I’m really excited about this, there’s not long now until the first Galloway Roots Country Festival takes place in Stranraer. It all happens Friday October 18th through to Sunday October 20th 2019.

The event is being supported by Dumfries and Galloway Arts Festival’s Arts Live programme and takes place at the newly refurbished Millennium Centre which has recently undergone a £1 million makeover.

Festival Co-Organiser and Compere for the weekend Ali Donowho of Alive 107.3’s Country In My Veins’ told me “ It is such an exciting prospect to bring some of the UK’s finest Country Music talent to this corner of South West Scotland but also being able to showcase some local musicians as well, we definitely feel there is something for everyone”

It should be a cracking weekend – I’ve already got my tickets and I’d encourage you to get yours sooner rather than later The line up features Ags Connolly, Katee Kross and the Amberjax, Kerry Fearon, Zoe, Sam Coe and The Long Shadows. All these performers have featured at major Country festivals in the UK and abroad. Each night has it’s own headliner Trevor Loughrey on Friday and the The Illegal Eagles on Saturday while local acts The Hollies, Ali’s own band Lowdown Highway – will also be performing and after seeing them at ParkFest earlier this year, they are phenominal and it’s worth going to see just these guys.

Stranraer’s own Check The Diary, Panache and Jennifer McMaster will also be performing.

The weekend culminates with a Hog Roast Jam on the Sunday so make sure you bring your elasticated waist trousers and your singing voices.

Tickets are available now by calling 07712898757 or by visiting https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/dgartsfestival/e-gqlbay
