Medd in the Morning Single of the Week: Kerri Watt – The Wild

By lee medd

Acclaimed singer songwriter Kerri Watt returns to Medd in the Morning this week as with her NEW Single released on March 11th, ‘The Wild,’ the anticipated follow up to herkerri watt The Wild record ‘Long Way Home.’
Produced once again by Embrace’s Richard McNamara, it’s a big song, with big production and continues to showcase Kerri as a major new UK talent.
“It’s a song about falling in love,” says Kerri. “About letting go of bad past experiences and getting lost in the moment and letting yourself be vulnerable again.”
And don’t miss the stunning new video, filmed in Iceland, a fitting location for the song’s title. Kerri: “Iceland was unbelievable, the landscapes are like a fairy tale. I wanted to recreate what had been in my head when I wrote the song, whilst incorporating real elements of the wild and I think we’ve done both perfectly. I like that it’s about a journey, but not specifically a romantic one…”

‘The Wild’ follows an amazing 2015 for the Scottish singer songwriter, who finally crossed over into the mainstream with her last single, ‘Long Way Home.’ The track rocketed onto BBC Radio 2’s A list, and helped her nab her first national TV performance on ITV’s Weekend Show.
She’s had critical acclaim everywhere from the Daily Telegraph, The Sun, Notion, Glamour Magazine, to Attitude Magazine, Music Week and Record of the Day amongst many others.

She also hit Number 1 on Hype Machine with the remix of her single ‘You’ and won over crowds across last summer’s festivals including Isle of Wight, The Great Escape, Secret Garden Party and Glastonbury.
She can now add Nina Nesbitt, Ward Thomas, Starsailor, Mike & The Mechanics and The Overtones to her impressive live support list, with more big tour supports on the cards for this spring – details to be announced.
All eyes are now on the next 12 months, a big year for Kerri. After ‘The Wild’ she’s hoping to spend the summer playing more festivals, she’s already recorded the follow up single and she’ll finally be recording her debut album with Richard McNamara, plus she’s planning her own headline tour for the autumn.
